Those Sound Metaphors guys are always digging out archival material from hidden corners of dance music history, and they've done it once again with this incredible holy grail for any devotees of the Balearic sound. Leo Mas attained legendary status DJing at Amnesia in Ibiza in the 80s alongside Alfredo, and in the early 90s he was exploring production with a variety of collaborators. Having entered the studio with Italian musician Sergio Portaluri in 1993, Mas sat on the resulting DATs for 30 years until they finally got unearthed as the heads-down, rolling breakbeat house stunners they are. Just to give things a modern twist for those who require it, there's also a remix on this 12' from Apiento.

Levat has been around for a minute, sneaking out electro-techno crossover gear here and there, but this marks the mysterious producer's most sizeable release to date. It's Andrew James Gustav's Marginal Returns label which is carrying this sizeable double pack, which should give you an idea of the flexible party tackle on offer. There's personality bursting out of every one of these full-fat joints, at times touching on bleep techno and even swerving back to an 80s tinted sound on stand-out track 'Vai'. It's absolutely an album of club cuts, but with more than enough variety to keep all listeners engaged whether you're packing a record bag or vibing out at home.
