We end the year with the second in our series of The Coin EP featuring a different artist on each side. In case you missed Volume 1 - TLM033 it featured Cumulative Collective and Re:Fill in September 2023. This time on side A we have Italian brothers The Robinson who have previously released their track Song 1 on TLM034. They are back once again with two superb jazz infused house tracks, Passion Is The Key and A Satisfying Day. Both ideal for the dancefloor. Moving onto the AA side and someone who has become a TLM regular, namely Japanese artist Takahiro Fuchigami who supplies us with three amazing tracks; Jazzing Bird, How’s That Sound? and In Motion. Fantastic broken beat from one of Japan’s rising stars. If you missed his two tracks that we previously released on TLM034 - Strange Acquaintance and TLM035 - Outer Heaven, you need to check them out. -

D3 Classic Edition proudly presents its debut release, shining a light on an unsung hero of Detroit’s electronic music scene: Nathaniel Killins IV. Active from the mid to late 1990s, Killins was an underrated talent who operated under the radar during a pivotal era of Detroit’s musical history. Under the alias Naquil, he released his debut EP in 1996 on Perception Records, a short-lived yet significant Detroit House/Techno label. Krem de la Krem is a deep melancholia and obscure Detroit deep house EP, beyond qualification, like only a few Detroit records can attain. -

Stockholm's DJ City debuts on Dresden's Uncanny Valley with his COSMICOMICS EP, a playful, sensory-filled record inspired by Italo Calvino's 1965 short story collection. The record channels the essence of 80s Italo disco and 70s sci-fi films by blending high-energy tracks with a sense of fantasy and drama. Each one draws from Calvino's blend of scientific facts and fictional narratives and mixes in comical absurdity with metaphysical depth. With nods to Hi-NRG and dancefloor-driven rhythms, this is a high concept EP even without the back story. It comes with a cover which is a censored painting by Jens Fange. Artful stuff. -

Chicago duo Kenny Gino and Mike T aka Solid Gold Playaz have consistently produced material since 1999 on a variety of labels. From Portland's Losonofono, through to Soulfuric Trax and even Berlin techno merchants Kanzleramt and not to mention their own Solid Gold Records. The Minds Beneath Atlantis EP comes courtesy of Jerome Deradji's esteemed Still Music and starts off with the absolutely sexy deepness of "Shhh (Quiet)" (feat DOT) which will appeal to proper deep house nostalgists like us, likewise "U With Me" has that Detroit style that calls to mind other great producers like Big Strick or Andres. On the flip, things take a turn for the more energetic and look more towards the Motor City than their Windy City again on the soulful techno workout "What Lies Beneath" -

Merwyn and Inkswel's latest is a refreshing blend of deep house and leftfield flair. The title track, 'Eternal Freedom', kicks off with a broken beat groove and a powerful vocal delivering a message about liberation, fusing deep house with an inventive rhythmic style. 'Cloud Eaters' follows with a soulful vibe that channels early 80s funk, creating an uplifting and nostalgic energy. 'Skyline' rounds out Side-1 with its own unique twist on house, pushing creative boundaries in style. On Side-2, Linkwood's remix of the title track injects a spacey disco vibe, layering a deep house groove with subtle funk elements that feel both classic and fresh. Gb's remix takes the track in a different direction, dialing back the energy with laid-back, 80s-inspired electro textures, offering a relaxed and introspective vibe. Together, these tracks deliver a dynamic and nuanced listening experience, perfect for fans of eclectic, message-driven house music. -

" The record tells of oases of trust.“ (Viola Klein) Viola Klein’s records are supremely earthy and astrally inclined. In her DJ sets, she navigates with harmonies through a music selection that combines experimental house from the US Midwest, West African polyrhythms, and music in the tradition of Can from Cologne. Klein was invited to shape the sound of a club night alongside Kampire and Nídia. She has collaborated with Unity Fellowship Church New York, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Ndongo Samba Sylla, the James and Grace Lee Boggs Center in Detroit, Julion De’Angelo, and Whodat. For her own party series, originally called Bring Your Ass and later No Adoration, No Humiliation, she invited artists such as Aaron Carl, K15, and Kyle Hall when he was just 18 years old. Her latest solo release, Confidant, offers a fresh approach to deepness. -

If anything, the hugely prolific Motor City mainstay that is Omar S seems to be getting even more prolific as time goes on. His vast catalogue grows once more here with Fun House, which finds Alister Fawnwoda exploring a wide range of dance music styles alongside guests such as FXHE regular John F.M., plus Mitchell Yoshida, Super Cool Wired, Troi Alexis, Tyesha Blount and more, with all the production, lyrics and mixing taken care of by Omar S himself. The tracks range from seductive deep house to edgy mechanical techno, dubbed out downbeat joints and smooth electronic Detroit soul. It is yet another crucial chapter in the FXHE and Omar S story. -

Series Of Taboo presents its third release, collating the fiery, broken works of two ingenious verging on igneous artists. The first is the established Copenhagen producer Terry Tester, who sports a two-decades-long career as a turntablist and beatmaker. The second is the talented producer Jay Sound, the keyboardist and composer based in Detroit. Whether more a testament to biographical clout or the music itself, 'Rhythms From World Vol. 1' EP is a compellingly minimal broken beat bound-about, both tracks giving off ineffable moods of formal curiosity over concept ('Triplets' taking after the stave-straddling, crotchety musical three) and 'Loose Idea' sounding like, well, just that. -

Exemplary nu-disco wax from the German Kaskadeur crew, lending a much-coveted plodders' energy to two sonic units by disco's twin queens. The slow churn of 'Kaskadeur 08', the eighth in the eponymous series, is characteristic of much contemporary techno-disco, betraying a capacity to urge foot, leg and hip movements in the listener and yet still without so much as a hint of histrionics: a must if you want to leave so much as a scent of cool in today's scene. The mysteriously named 'AN' and 'NE' play back like electrochromic disco hits of yore, though their source material is various, making this a special case of not just editing, but remixing: the A's 'Hearts Run Free' by Candi Staton and the B's 'No Mountain High Enough' by Diana Ross are make for great uses each. -

The Cuttin' Grooves series is back on TNT Records, featuring a raw reissue of Todd Terry's essential, old-school productions. Leading with 'Do What You Want', it's an uncompromising, drum-heavy track that reflects Terry's gritty, underground vibe. 'Definition Wild Style' is a chaotic, sample-driven cut that keeps the energy high, while 'Dreams of Santa Anna (Remix)' offers a fresh twist on a classic. Wrapping it up, 'A Day in the Groove' is a hypnotic loop-driven gem built for relentless dancefloor action. -

Ed Temple takes things back to the glory age of seminal clubs like Paradise Garage and The Loft with this fresh outing on the Temple Musiq label. 'Pink Velvet' opens up with the sort of lush and dreamy arps that you want to hear either to ease you in or take you out of the dance. 'Don't Wait' then awakens the sense with steamy sax sounds drifting up above mid-tempo house drums and 'On My Mind' is all woozy vocals and smeared jazz guitar licks for some Balearic brilliance. Last but not least is an Inkswel remix of 'On My Mind' that explores broken beats and sunny vibes with a stylish original vocal.
