Earlier in the year, Ewan McVicar and Steven Simpson made their debut as Granary 12 as part of a collaborative, single-sided 12" with Weapons of Desire regular Auto Sound City. This then is their solo debut, a three-track missive primed for peak-time plays. The duo successfully sets the tone with "Diga", an intoxicating blend of rugged analogue electronics, thumping beats, swirling vocal samples, psychedelic acid lines and layered hand percussion, before ratcheting up the intensity on mind-altering jack-track "Brasserrie". Over on side B it's all about "Acid Freq", a thrillingly intense acid techno romp where raw, razor sharp TB-303 lines attack the senses in seemingly endless waves.

SlothBoogie is one of London's most highly respected underground electronic music crews, encompassing a DJ collective, record label, radio show and regular party series. On the seventh edition of their Editz series, they take matters into their own hands with three club ready disco reworks - all chopped, trimmed and finessed for your dancing pleasure. On the A side we've got the funked-up peak time disco loops of "Looking 4 U", followed by the late night mood music of "Freak" - taking things down an emotive deep house route. On the flip, it's back to the (disco) program with the sexy lo-slung escapades of "B2B".

Andres has always been out there doing his thing, but it feels like an age since he dropped "Andres III" on us. Finally, the Detroit hero is back with a splash on his regular home of Mahogani Music with a stunning follow-up that brings out the best of his many musical threads. There's Cubano style vibes on "Back In The Old Times" and hand-clapping gospel tinted house grooves on "Mighty Tribe", sweet and sexy downtempo jams like "I'll Wait 4 U" and mad heavy R&B beatdowns like "What's Ur Name Again" - that's just the first four tracks and when they hit like this, you know the rest of the record's just as strong and just as varied.

The latest compilation 12" from Dungeon Meat brings together a heavyweight cast for a trip into the seedy underbelly of tech house. Leading the charge is Honey Dijon, who's on tough and heavy-grooving form with the low-end pulsing pump of "Blue Sky". Desert Sound Colony shakes things up with a quirky, bumping sample juggler in "Where Are Ya?" - calling to mind the madcap antics of Jacob London but less goofy and more mean tempered. Danielle Temperilli takes cues from UK garage for the crooked 2-step freakery of "Rattlesnake" - a wild card deep cut for the heads to get quizzical to.
