This record is a Chicago collaboration between Vick Lavender and a legendary singer and producer, Ron Carroll. Ron is best known as the voice of timeless winners like Back Together, Angel and Lucky Star. Vick Lavender is a high profile producer and remixer and a regular on Cataleya Music. He runs his own Sophisticado Recordings label and has recently released two LPs, Beyond and Time Traveler. All I Got For You (Is Love) is a proper vocal anthem. It features funky guitars, star kissed keys and a committed vocal delivery. This is classic Soulful House from Carroll and Lavender! Paint A Picture is a key driven winner that will put you in a positive mood. Modern House songs that really deliver like the classics are rare, but Vick and Ron are on point with the memorable All I Got For You (Is Love).

'Hi Power' is an intense gospel-infused stomper, delivered both in 'regular' and acid versions. Is it House? Disco? Undoubtedly it's unique and challenging. "Begin'n" moves in faster techno-ish territory, while B.Monk rounds the edges with its smooth midtempo boogie tones. On their second EP together, this Italian duo lean fully into a sun-drenched, acid-laced strain of deep house that pulls from all corners of the genre's golden eras. It feels rich with references but still sharply executed, never sounding like mere nostalgia. 'Insatiable' wastes no time getting to work. It's a classic-styled acid house heater, built around a tight, jackin rhythm and a vocal that punches right through. The drum programming is sharp and restless, giving it that club edge while staying warm and human. 'Acid Memories' goes lighter, almost balearic in its dreamlike glide. The acid lines are gentle, swirling around a beautiful keyboard motif that feels like an afternoon fading into dusk on the coast. 'Mimosa' taps into something deeper and sweatier. It's got that Wild Pitch vibe, all shadowy keys and late-night thump, straight out of a dim New York basement. Flip the record and 'Computer Machine' brings a more tech-leaning flavor. Think early 90s dream house with a machine soul. Then there's 'Cala Bassa'. which is a total comedown moment. Lush pads, jazzy flourishes and a slow, beachy tempo that lets the record end in a breath of sea air. A proper journey.

Makin Moves present two supreme releases featuring one of our favourite singer-songwriters Shezar! Side A features Natural High, where Shezar teams up with French producer Laroye, who has worked with labels from Freerange to Glitterbox Records, always exploring genres from broken beat, disco to house. Here we get a quality piece of broken beat and heartfelt song from Shezar. On the B side is her collaboration with UK producer Wipe The Needle and French producer Venus Beats, both long-time contributors to Makin Moves including the hit Tenderly with Josh Milan. The original mix is a killer soulful house meets broken beat track with energetic keys, with Shezar and her sister JayBaydelivering an uplifting vocal about positivity, unity and overcoming adversity: We Shall Overcome. On the flip, the legendary Frankie Feliciano brings his exceptional NYC production and musicianship with a stunning remix.
