DOVS are the duo of Vienna's Johannes Auvinen, aka Tin Man, and Mexico City's Gabo Barranco, aka AAAA. Psychic Geography is their second album together, but it diers considerably from both their respective solo work and their 2019 debut LP together, Silent Cities: Where that album's hardware-based acid kept its gaze focused squarely on the danceoor, Psychic Geography is a strictly ambient aair. The album has its roots in a trio of beatless tracks that peppered Silent Cities; this time, the duo decided to try making an entire album with no drums. "It opened up the chance to make a dierent, more narrative style of music with more complex structures," Auvinen says. Ambiguity and uncertainty are key watchwords for their music, which moves with eerie, liquid grace. Untethered from 4/4 kicks, their music drifts and morphs; familiar acid sequences give way to surprising shifts in tone and mood. And with no drums to distract the ear, the seeming simplicity of their silvery synth lines opens up to reveal remarkable depth and dynamism. Barranco and Auvinen recorded the album together in the studio utilizing machines like the Roland TB-303, Juno G, Prophet 5, Elektron Octatrack MKII, Make Noise DPO and Ren?, Mutable Clouds, Roland SH-101, Behringer TD3, and Sherman Filterbank. Listen on good speakers or headphones, and you can tell: Their gear yields a tonal richness that recalls the ambient and cosmic music of decades earlier. You can practically feel the heat from their circuits warming the air. The meaning behind the name DOVS is as ambiguous as the duo's music. (Dig, if you will, the picture of Picasso's dove of peace--or, perhaps, the outline of a bird pressed into a small white pill.) But Psychic Geography needs little explanation. DOVS' album is a collection of mental maps of imaginary places. Set your coordinates for the mirage on the horizon and prepare to dissolve.

A Star Child is the idea that a person can be incomplete and not self-aware, yet accept their imperfections and still direct their influence despite the arrangements of periodic and trending consequence. This 5 track journey charts the Burden brothers mood from sinister, spacey, acidic Techno jams (Sonic Fusion) to deeper, more melancholic mid-tempo cuts (Nicolette) and along the way manages to usher in a new wave of Detroit Techno sounds. Steeped in soul and depth Octivation was hinting towards the epic style Octave One would shape with their various projects in the following decades and releases. The earliest glimpse (Their 1st release) into a long and fruitful career that is still continuing today. This EP was a game changer and it's influence can still be felt in contemporary House and Techno right now. Now, finally made available again to be re-discovered and experienced. Re-mastered, re-pressed and re-issued with all the original 430 West white label and sticker artwork intact, in conjunction with the Burden brothers / 430 West Records.

Xiaolin reimagines ‘Half a Dream’ which first saw the light of day on the 1987 LP ‘City Girl’ by Tina Liu which has become a very coveted rare and deeply loved rare gem of the late 80s Cantonese language Synth-Pop canon. Alongside Xiaolin breahting new life into this hyper catchy jam with what is now her trademark of stripped back charm melded with a dexterous production style, we’ve been treated to two separate instrumental versions and gifted South Korean producer Mogwaa on remix duties; delivering a slick, dreamy dancefloor cut.

Dutch bass player Joop de Graaf is back with his Y.O.P.E. project after the first EP 'Lost but Here' dropped in 2022. His debut album ‘Peer Pleasure’ explores an intriguing electronic world of sounds, with a foundation built on a danceable fusion of improvisation, beat-driven, jazz, and soul music. Keeping this foundation strong, Y.O.P.E. has started to make more fully composed songs instead of only beats and grooves. Y.O.P.E. is telling the ups and downs about friendships with their instruments but also with lyrics and works together with upcoming artists such as Sam Nera. There are a lot more features this time, like Diana Dzhabbar on flute, the Rotterdam-based NIA on cello, and Avvnt MM with electronic programming. Y.O.P.E. managed to bring all these ingredients together in a cohesive sound, and it's some of the most cutting-edge music out there.
