American hip hop group founded in 1985 in Long Island, New York. Members: Chuck D (MC, 1985–present); Flavor Flav (MC, 1985–present); Terminator X (DJ, 1985–1998); DJ Lord (DJ,1999–present); Professor Griff ('Minister of Information' and occasional MC, 1985–1989 and 1998–present); Security Of The First World (S1W) (associate non-music group, 1985–present).

American funk, soul and jazz vibraphone player, composer and producer. Born September 10, 1940 in Los Angeles, California. Died March 4, 2025 in New York. Ayers began his career as a post-bop jazz artist, releasing several albums with Atlantic, before his tenure at Polydor beginning in the 1970s, during which he helped pioneer jazz-funk. Among his hits are Everybody Loves The Sunshine, Searching and Running Away, as well as collaborations with Fela Kuti. Founded his own label Uno Melodic Records in 1980. Father of Roy Ayers III and Nabil Ayers.
