Recut - Dub Zero

Mallorca-based artist Todd Gartland made a sizeable impression with his first 12" Move Electronic, which launched the Planetary Instinct label back in 2021. Since then he's graced Eterno and CABARET and now he's bringing his artful blend of tech house, breaks and psychedelia back for another sizzling bout of ear-candy. 'Dubby Doingz' is a funked up roller with bewildering layers of sonic trickery sneaking around the spooky synth lines and chunky beat. 'Eek-A-Freak (Sub Mix)' brings some pointed, crusty reggae samples into the mix for a lean and mean soundsystem workout, while 'Hope For Humanity' strikes a melancholic tone in its own cultivation of samples, synths and drums. B2 joint 'Space Dub Extract' is a stand-out curveball that slips down to hip-hop tempo and piles on some delightfully trippy modular synth licks that should go down well with the bean bag cognoscenti

Ruff Stuff

Last year Leon Atter made his debut as Xtra Brux on CoOp's third "Selectors Assemble" compilation, following it up earlier this year with a track on Dance Regular's debut EP. Here he returns to the latter label with his first solo EP. First up is "Dubz 4 Dancerz", a deliciously dirty fusion of heavy, garage-style bass, crunchy broken beats and sweaty vocal snippets. It's followed by the similarly inclined "I Need U", which sounds like the kind of weighty, loose-limbed roller that we can imagine Toddla T dropping, and the UKG/broken beat fusion of "Hush", whose cut-up vocal snippets doff a cap to Todd Edwards. To round things off Atter reaches for the wobble bass and organ stabs with great success on "Deep Down Inside".

Eternal Love

After a string of releases on La Mamie’s Records, Visions Recording, Local Talk Records, Maytra makes his vinyl debut on Swiss based label Léman records. On this three-track EP, accompanied by a remix, Maytra delivers his own vision of the deep-house genre, infused with a sense of melancholy. His approach is instinctive, resulting in tracks that feel raw and unpolished, embracing their imperfections. Ziggy Zeitgeist, close collaborator and drummer-artist based in Berlin, contributed to Eli and Endless Hours with additional Percussions. Matthew Hayes (Xpress Point) contributed with bass on Midnight RIde (Bandcamp bonus track). Gary Superfly contributed to the project with his own laid back and breaky interpretation of Endless Hours.

Fastforward 2023, back on the highway with four twisted tracks from Rupert Marnie. The Hamburg based producer with a weakness for spicy japanese food and science fiction novels is part of The Press Group label and Remoto Recordshop, which both has been close to the LV musical mind and hearts – delivers the stuff we want to play with. Fail we may, sail we must.
