The late great Ron Hardy had as much influence on DJing and club culture as anyone before or since. It's not just what he played, but how he played it that set the standard from his legendary residency at the Music Box - not least the fact that he often had the highs squealing out of his system because they were the frequencies that had most impact on him while he was high on heroin. His productions all reflect his approach in the booth, and this latest collection of classics is back with rising disco, rawness, low-slung funk and high-speed, feel-good disco bliss.

Chicago house pioneer Ron Hardy was one of the first DJs - in the Windy City at least, as New Yorkers got there first - to create and play re-edits in his sets. He did this at the Music Box, where he was resident, using the club's reel to reel tape machine. On the Ron Hardy Classics series, we get to grab some of his most legendary tape edits. First up on this two-tracker is Hardy's take on Salsoul disco classic 'Let No Man Put Asunder', a loopy proto-house builder that ekes out the inherent sweatiness and fill-heavy rhythm of the original First Choice cut. 'No Way Back', meanwhile, is not a rub of the Adonis house classic, but rather an insatiable, Clavinet-heavy disco funk number that Hardy successfully turns into a breathless peak-time workout.
