The next chapter in Axis Expressionist Series. A collection of vinyl and limited digital releases, curated by Jeff Mills of his most eclectic and transcendent compositions that derive from his Every Dog Has Its Day project as well as new unreleased works. ''Imperfections are a natural part of the world, and they can make us beautiful and unique: Nothing and everything is perfect. We can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and still we're beautiful.'' A Star Child is the idea that a person can be incomplete and not self-aware, yet accept their imperfections and still direct their influence despite the arrangements of periodic and trending consequence. It can also mean that imperfections can make admirable qualities stand out more clearly. The Star Child reveals.

A truly essential piece of early Detroit Techno history here, Octave One's original white label Octivation EP from 1990 has long been a sought after and coveted slab of wax. This 5 track journey charts the Burden brothers mood from sinister, spacey, acidic Techno jams (Sonic Fusion) to deeper, more melancholic mid-tempo cuts (Nicolette) and along the way manages to usher in a new wave of Detroit Techno sounds. Steeped in soul and depth Octivation was hinting towards the epic style Octave One would shape with their various projects in the following decades and releases. The earliest glimpse (Their 1st release) into a long and fruitful career that is still continuing today. This EP was a game changer and it's influence can still be felt in contemporary House and Techno right now. Now, finally made available again to be re-discovered and experienced. After the iconic Musica da Discoteca series, l’oggetto returns with DANCE, a new 12” continuing his exploration of the rooted electronic music interplay between his native Italy and his adopted home, the US. Xiaolin reimagines ‘Half a Dream’ which first saw the light of day on the 1987 LP ‘City Girl’ by Tina Liu which has become a very coveted rare and deeply loved rare gem of the late 80s Cantonese language Synth-Pop canon. Alongside Xiaolin breahting new life into this hyper catchy jam with what is now her trademark of stripped back charm melded with a dexterous production style, we’ve been treated to two separate instrumental versions and gifted South Korean producer Mogwaa on remix duties; delivering a slick, dreamy dancefloor cut.

Dutch bass player Joop de Graaf is back with his Y.O.P.E. project after the first EP 'Lost but Here' dropped in 2022. His debut album ‘Peer Pleasure’ explores an intriguing electronic world of sounds, with a foundation built on a danceable fusion of improvisation, beat-driven, jazz, and soul music. Keeping this foundation strong, Y.O.P.E. has started to make more fully composed songs instead of only beats and grooves. Y.O.P.E. is telling the ups and downs about friendships with their instruments but also with lyrics and works together with upcoming artists such as Sam Nera. There are a lot more features this time, like Diana Dzhabbar on flute, the Rotterdam-based NIA on cello, and Avvnt MM with electronic programming. Y.O.P.E. managed to bring all these ingredients together in a cohesive sound, and it's some of the most cutting-edge music out there.

Mark Grusane presents Midwest Rhythms Vol. 3 on Disctechno: a compilation of five stripped down, off-kilter house tracks from four producers out of Chicago and Detroit and one from Grusane himself. On the A side is a spaced out synth-laden “Memory Blank” from DJ Slush (aka Eric Schwab) and a pulsing, bass-heavy beatdown on “AYYYO” from Deon Jamar. The B side features Jordan Zawideh’s reverb-heavy drum machine & synth duet “Axolotls”, Mark Grusane’s pounding, in-your-face atonal track “The Recoil”, and finishes with Thomas Xu’s grooving arpeggios on “School Street.” Not to be missed for fans of the contemporary Midwest underground."
